Our Advice: Everyone who visits Cozumel should try snorkeling here at least once.  While Hurricane Wilma did do a bit of damage to the shallow reefs, Cozumel is still one of the best.

COZUMEL SNORKELING FAQ's

Q: WHAT KIND OF VISIBILITY CAN I EXPECT?
A: The average visibility in Cozumel is an incredible 150 feet (45 meters).  It is not at all uncommond for the visibilities to reach a staggering 200 feet (61 meters).  The water color and clarity here is truly stunning.

Q: CAN I FIND GOOD SNORKELING FROM THE SHORE IN COZUMEL?
A: There is good snorkeling on the beach at Dzul-Ha and the Fiesta Americana, as well as at the Coral Princess hotels.  This is where many of the tours, like the ATVs or Dune Buggies, will take you snorkeling if you choose these excursions instead of a snorkeling tour.  However, you'll mostly be snorkeling along rocky shores, not coral reefs.  The beautiful coral reefs that Cozumel is famous for can only be reached by boat, so you'll need to take a tour to experience the very best Cozumel has to offer.

Q: WHAT IS THE WATER TEMPERATURE IN COZUMEL?
A: The Caribbean waters of Cozumel are wonderfully warm all year round.  The temperatures vary between 77° F in the winter to 82° F in the summer months.

Q: CAN I BRING MY OWN SNORKELING GEAR?
A: Of course!  Not only that, we encourage you to do so.  You can buy them for not much money, then you always know your gear fits, and you never have to pay for rentals again! Of course, snorkeling gear is included for free with any of the snorkeling tours on our website.  Click Here to find masks, fins, and snorkels at great prices.

Q: I'M NOT A STRONG SWIMMER, CAN I STILL GO SNORKELING?
A: Absolutely.  You don't even need to know how to swim to enjoy snorkeling, as long as you're comfortable floating with a lifejacket in deep water.  We also offer a snorkeling training course, so you can learn all the techniques to enjoy it to the fullest, however anyone can enjoy snorkeling, so relax and have fun!
