Can't decide whether you want
to bottom fish or try your luck at deep sea
sportfishing? No need! On these
trips, you can start out trolling and test your
luck. If you're not landing enough, you
can switch over and try bottom fishing instead,
or vice-versa if you like. Of course, if
you're having success, you don't have to switch.
You can keep right on trolling. We
recommend a 6 hour trip or an 8 hour trip to
give you ample time to do both. With a 4
hour trip, you're better off picking one type of
fishing and sticking to it.
Your crew
Our captains and crews are
among the most experienced in Cozumel,
participating in all the tournaments, and
holding many trophies. The boat is
private, just you and your crew will be onboard.
Methods
Deep sea sportfishing in
Cozumel is all trolling. All of the big
game fish are caught in essentially the same
fashion, so you never know what might be on the
end of your line! Bottom fishing is done
by dropping line with hook, weight and bait
straight down to the bottom while drifting
offshore, sometimes with a pole, and sometimes
with a hand reeled line in the traditional
Mexican fashion.
The Fish
Look for sailfish, marlin,
mahi mahi, and wahoo during the warm spring and
summer months. When the weather cools off,
deep sea fishing will switch to yellowtail and
red snapper, grouper, wahoo, jack, and
barracuda. Bottom fishing will be snapper,
grouper, amberjack, triggerfish, and other reef
fish.
