San Gervasio is the largest and most famous Mayan Ruins site on Cozumel, dating back to 300-400 A.D when this urban center was dedicated to Ix Chel, the goddess of fertility, medicine, midwifery and weaving. Mayan women used to make a pilgrimage from the mainland to visit the temples and many statues of Ix Chel found here.

The architectural style appears to be modeled after the capital of the Itzas, with the white stone roads connecting all the temples, similar to the roads found at Chichen Itza. While this ruins site is small compared to the giant sites on the mainland, it presents an interesting history of the Mayan presence on the island of Cozumel.

After you complete your guided tour of the San Gervasio ruins, we'll head to the wild and undeveloped Eastern shore of Cozumel, stopping to see the spectacularly beautiful El Mirador, with it's natural bridges over the ocean, and crashing waves!

Then spend the rest of your day at spectacular Isla Mia enjoy a delicious lunch followed by free time to relax, swim, or soak up the sun on the pristine shoreline. A great end to a great day!

Just a short walk from any of Cozumel's three cruise piers, this is an ideal excursion for cruise ship passengers. Also nice for hotel guests though, because it's only a few minutes by taxi from each main hotel zone to the meeting point.

Overall, an EXCELLENT experience! A few points to note: I am a solo traveler. Thank you for including me in the group tour! Another service rejected me after I had made a reservation. The ad mentioned 3 meet-up points, all close to my hotel. The confirmation email directed me to a site 3 miles away. I called the day before to see if I could meet closer and was told no, I had to go to the farther location. I am a walker so the 3-mile walk the next morning was fine. As it turns out, I could have met up with the others close-by. Oh well. Exercise is good, right? The ad referred to a stop at El Mirador. On the tour bus, I found out that was not included with my trip. A slight let-down. The tour was AMAZING. Yane is an excellent guide. I loved my time with her learning all about the history of the area. She is truly a wealth of knowledge and deserves much praise. I will definitely take this tour again when I visit Cozumel in the future and hope I can request Yane! (Roman was a superb driver, too.) The food and drinks at the beach club were great! HIGHLY recommend this tour to anyone!

The drive around the island and the included lunch and beach time at Playa Palancar Beach made for a more complete experience after the trip to San Gerasio Maya ruins, hence I chose this more expensive Deluxe tour. I was happy with the friendly demeanour of our tour guide Oscar, and his introductions at the Maya ruins were good, and we covered enough of the ruins during the allotted time. A little thing is that cold bottled water was not provided, which I think adds value at little added cost. I recommend this tour.

The tour guide and trolley driver were amazing! Best assets of the company. Purchasing and finding the meet up location leave a lot to be desired. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. We did the San Gervasio deluxe tour which included a trip to the beach.
